Childbirth/VBAC

Question
hi
I am pregnant for the third time, mostly it has all been quite a joyous occasion apart from the usual bits and bobs like morning sickness that make you wonder why you would ever want to do this to your self!!!
I had my first as a natural birth, I wanted a homebirth but after 17 hours in labour and no movement on dialation for nearly 10 of them it was advised that I go to hostpital wich was no problem by then, my second was born by c-section as I had placenta previa and he ruptured the placenta trying to move it which caused a few complications, I had an emercency c-secton in the end, now I am pregnant again, and I am being pushed to have another c-section, as far as I can see this has nothing to do with anything other than convinience for them, I have been told that as the scar may stretch this will be too big a risk to take, and yet all the evidece I have found sugests that this is not the case, I want a home birth, and I do understand that there maybe reasons for me not to give birth at home but I am fed up with being treated like a complete simpleton by people who seemingly see me as nothing more than an irritation.
is there anywhere I can find more information on this subject? I am feeling very stuck and anoyed with no power to do anything about it

Answer
Leaf,

You are correct that in the vast majority of cases, a VBAC is a safe, viable option.  Having a home VBAC, however, may not be depending upon the area in which you live and if you are able to find a provider that can attend you at home and also has hospital privileges in the event that complications do arise.

Two of the best resources on VBAC are vbac.com and vbacfacts.com, both of which provide evidence-based information on planning a VBAC as well as what situations may prohibit a vaginal birth.

You may have to seek out different care providers who will listen to your concerns and treat you with the respect you deserve.  Remember, they are working for you, not the other way around.  You deserve to be cared for by people who will show you the respect and consideration you deserve and truly have your best interest at heart.  It doesn't sound like this is the case with your current care provider.
