Hi. I had a baby in september and bleed for 7 weeks then two weeks after then two weeks after that then two weeks after that then a week later and now two days after that one finished. Please help. I am breastfeeding. I am just so drained. Tired, light headed, achy, moody and just not my self. I have low iron reserves but thats all the docs could find. PLease help me. Thank you

Answer
Sara,

That type of bleeding is typically a sign of overdoing things.  It takes some women's bodies more time to recover from childbirth than others, and recurrent bleeding can be a sign that your uterus isn't fully back to normal and the activities and stresses of everyday life are a bit too much.

It is also more common when breastfeeding as your hormone levels fluctuate day to day and between feedings.

I know how hard this will be to do, but try to rest as much as you can - sleep when the baby sleeps, nurse lying down, and take care of yourself as much as you can.  It's ok to slow down your daily pace - you just had a baby and that is a huge change for your body to handle.

It becomes so easy to overdo things when you have a new baby to care for as well as a house, job, etc.  Take care of yourself and it will be easier to take care of everything else too.
