Childbirth/pregnancy after tubal ligation

Question
I had my tubes tied over 5 years ago.  I have always been very regular (usually every 25 days).  I am just about a week late.  Should I be worried?  I am 42 yrs old.

Answer
Dianne,

It's possible, but not probable.  Conception after tubal ligation does happen, but you could also be late due to a host of other causes, including stress, fatigue, illness, aging, etc.

Your cycle can also shift some as you age.  Wait another week and take a test to be sure.  If it's positive, then you know the answer.  If not, then see your doctor to determine the reason your cycle hasn't started.
