Childbirth/Natural after Myo and C?

Question
Hi there, I had a C-section with my son in Sept of 07 because of Fibriods, I later had an abdominal myomectomy in May of 09.

I am now 14 weeks pregnant, and while my Dr. told me at first if she did not cut into the endometrium I could V-Bac now I was told no. Even though there was no cutting into the endometrium.

Do you think natural child birth is still an option for me?

Answer
Jennifer,

I think it will be difficult to find a VBAC-supportive provider as it's been so short a time since the myomectomy.  This will be the deciding factor in whether or not a VBAC is possible.

You got pregnant only 2 months after your surgery, which left little time for full healing to occur.  Had the pregnancy been a good distance from the time of the surgery, such as more than a year, then I think your odds of having a VBAC would have been much improved.

So, at this point, you'd have to search for a different provider.  I just doubt that you'll be able to find one since VBAC isn't nearly as well-supported as it should be for all pregnancies.

Best,
Catherine
