Question
hi, i am 39 years old, 3.5 years ago i fell 15 foot and sustained a fracture to my inferior pubic, exterior pubic extending to acetabulum and a fracture to the sacrum. as i have a high pain threshold i was mis diagnosed, returned later and was told i should have had operation. specialist stated if i would require a section if pregnant, had a visit and doctor stated i could deliver normally, i have challenged this based on the specialist comments as he stated it would be to dangerous, please can u advise?

Answer
Isabel,

It's entirely probable that a vaginal birth is possible.

After your fractures healed, you shouldn't have trouble giving birth unless your pelvic outlet healed poorly or in an unusual shape.

I'm not sure what danger the specialist was referencing, but if your OB has examined you, seen your bone structure and stated a vaginal birth is possible, then that is the opinion I'd trust more as he is more skilled in determining whether a vaginal birth is possible since he deals exclusively with childbirth issues.
