Childbirth/When did I become pregnant? WORRIED!

Question
Dear Dorothy,

I am 20weeks pregnant, and was informed that my EDD was the 12th of December 2009. The problem Im having is that I am unsure of who the father could be out of two men.
At the beginning of March, I had unprotected sex with my current boyfriend, and then on the 19th of March 2009, I had unprotected sex with an X partner. He wanted to give me oral, but i informed him this would not be possible as I think I was about to come on my period, instead we had unprotected sex. I did not see my period for March, and I would like to know: WAS I PREGNANT PRIOR TO THIS ENCOUNTER or could I have got pregnant AFTER!

PLEASE HELP because I dont know what to tell my current partner of 3years!

Answer
Hi Simone,

The information you gave is not matching up - if you are due December 12, that would put the date of your last period as March 7, and would put you at almost 19 weeks pregnant, not 20 weeks.

I am suspecting that you meant to put in December 2 as your due date, not December 12.  That would line up with the other information in your email, putting you at 20 weeks, with your last period being around February 25 (which would have you thinking on the 19th of March that your period was coming soon).  In that case, it is very unlikely that the second man is the father - you would have likely conceived between March 6 and March 12.

However, if your last period was on or around March 7 and you are due on December 12, then you would not be able to rule out the second man as the potential father, as pregnancy likely occurred between March 16 and March 22.

All of these approximate conception dates assume that you have a regular cycle of approximately 28 days.

I hope that answered your question!
