Childbirth/breast milk still being produced

Question
My children are older and I have never stopped producing milk. I went to a doctor who did blood tests, everything was fine with the thyroid and prolactin? tests. I was referred to another doctor, had a mammogram, everything was ok, no tumors or anything. She suggested primrose oil capsules for 3 months and then I should come back to the office. I have my doubts, any suggestions?

Answer
Evening primrose oil is sometimes suggested for breast pain, and there are some studies that support that.  I can't find any evidence that it helps with stopping production of milk.

If you are experiencing breast pain, I would give the evening primrose oil a try and see if it helps.

If you don't have any breast pain, I would ask the doctor why she thinks this will help your problem (maybe she knows of some studies that I am not aware of)

I'm sure this must be frustrating for you.  I hope it stops soon.
