Question
hello. i have a very weird situation.
i was with my ex for 9 months and we ended up spilting up over the tension on an abortion last year. i had the tablets at only 8 weeks pregnant. My utereus didnt clear properly and i ended up going for and operation to clear the retained products. that was on the 26th of october 2009. i have recently found out i am pregnant again... my due date is the 17th or august. because i havnt had a period since the operation they dated my pregnancy by ultrasound which would give me the date 10-11-09.i wanted to know if that was my new date of my last period or if that is the date i actually conceved??? i also slept with another person other than my ex on 5-12-09. thats quite a while after my operation and i would of had a period seeing as it was more then 4 weeks after. its driving me crazy not knowing... i am 90% sure its my ex's baby i dont think the dates work out for it to be the other mans. hope u can give me some advice =) thanks for reading x x x

Answer
They are using the November 10 date as the date of your LMP.  Going by the dates you gave, you most likely conceived around November 23-24.

Even with a 3 day margin of error, you would have ovulated by November 27.  The egg can live 24 hours, so the last likely date that you could have conceived, going by your dates, is November 28.   I think you can safely say that the other man is not the father of your baby.

Experience

Since 2004, I have taught childbirth education classes focused on helping couples gain confidence, make decisions for their birth, and give them tools for helping them get the birth they want. Since 2004, I have also attended births in local hospitals as a birth doula (as of 8/10, I have attended 120 births) so I am able to see firsthand what is working in helping couples deal with labor. I am also a mom of five children, and have various birth experiences myself, including unmedicated birth and a cesarean.
