Question
I have a wood burning fireplace which has worked perfectly
since we started using it this winter. Now all of a sudden I am getting a down draft which smokes me out everytime I try to light it. I checked for obstruction and the cap and all seems to be in order.

Looking for advise.

Have your fireplace and chimney inspected to the NFPA-211, level II standard. You can "Google" chimney inspections and look for a qualified inspector. There are numerous things that can cause this to happen. Have you replaced windows in the house, have you added a second story, added any new appliances that might contribute to negative pressure inside your home? Be sure to ask if the inspector is qualified to perform the level II inspection. Good luck.
