Question
is there a type of isulation that i could stuff into the hollows of my gel fireplace  so it won't emit so much heat from the metal case?

Susan,

Gel fireplaces are ventless fireplaces that are tested and listed for safety as a complete system. Any alteration or modification to that completed system such as blocking off or restricting the flow of the vents will void the warranty and can result in a health or safety hazard. I recommend referring to the manual for your specific product and contacting the manufacture with any concerns about overheating. Good luck.
