Question
We have a heatilator gas fireplace insert, there is SO much cold air coming in the bottom, top, and from the sides of the fireplace.  What can we do to stop the cold air from coming in?  We have turned off the pilots, we don't use the fireplace.  Please emaill us and give us some suggestions.

It sounds like the old fireplace your insert is installed in may not be sealed completely. Contact a professional fireplace inspector/installer, (Google, fireplace inspectors) and have the installation inspected to the NFPA-211 standards. there is more likely something to do with the old fireplace rather than the gas insert. Good luck.
