Chimney & Fireplaces/DIY installation of used pellet stove

Question
QUESTION: I have a used model HP40 Earth Stove pellet stove that I would like to install in my fireplace myself.  This is partly an economic issue, and partly because I am extremely self-reliant, and prefer DIY where at all possible.

The stove will definitely fit, but there is a constricted area where the stainless flexible flue will not pass at the top rear where the damper was before I removed it.

Also, wondering how to have stove forward enough to attach flue, seal joints, and slide it back.  What should it rest on to be pushed into place?  How would one slide it back out if necessary?

Also, there is a little ledge at the front of the stove raised 1" above the base that will extend as far as the edge of the masonry in front of the fireplace.  This means only 1" clearance between this part of the stove and the living room carpet or hardwood floor.   The main firebox would have a clearence of 3-4".  Is this enough?  Should I shim up the stove higher to get more clearance?  Will that affect air flow into and around the stove?

Is there anywhere else you would recommend I go for backgropund info to educate myself adequately for this job?

ANSWER: Hello Diane, you must follow the installation instructions for any install like this, if you don't have them it would be very hard to help you install it safely.
I am not familiar with this stove or install and I would not attempt  it. you could contact your local wood stove store, they might have a line on that type of stove.
If you can not find the manual do not install this stove, it could be dangerous or deadly...saving money is one thing but you might do better buying a new stove and being safe.

QUESTION: New stove not an option at this time.

I do have the original manual, but it does not answer the  questions I asked you.

I have asked for help from many local stores, but they all prefer to sell new stoves and will not help.  That is why I am asking you to assist.

How could I find someone with specific expertise with this model of stove???  Any ideas????

Answer
Welcome back Diane, you mean to tell me that this manual does not say if 1" clearance to combustibles in front of your stove to your rug is or is not ok? All installation manual give clearance to combustibles on all sides and top and you want to shim the stove? don't do it.
"The stove will definitely fit, but there is a constricted area where the stainless flexible flue will not pass at the top rear where the damper was before I removed it." Hear it sounds like it will NOT fit.
Sorry, I can not tell you how to install a stove with out seeing it, reading the manual, and seeing the chimney.
You could ask your local building department, or a certified chimney sweep (csia.org. Did you try to contact the manufaturer?
with out some one to say "this is ok to install and run the stove" the way you want to use it, I would not, I do not think it will be safe.
