Question
The pilot light is lit on our gas fireplace and when we ignite the fireplace it lights with a white flame and then goes out after different periods of time. Sometimes it stays on for 15 minutes, sometimes 2 minutes. The most it has stayed on was about 45 minutes. What could be wrong? The pilot light never goes out.

Hi Dee,

You need to have a qualified technician look at this situation.  Do not use your fireplace until it is properly repaired.

Check with a local hearth store for a NFI Certified Gas Specialist.
