Chimney & Fireplaces/Log burner

Question
We purchased a log burner last year and bought an extension pipe to take the smoke up the chimney.  We had to remove the pot off the roof as smoke was coming back down the chimney.  SInce taking the pot off, the rain comes down and we have a terrible draft.  The chimney is not blocked as when you look up you can see daylight.  Any ideas.  Cheers

Answer
Hello Jo, What is a "log burner" is it a wood stove? was it installed coracle? when does the smoke come back down the chimney at the start of a fire? the entire time it is going?
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have.
Hope this helped
