hi jim,
I have a brush with two links of handle stuck in my ventrinox liner. the brush is an 8 inch, the liner is 6. I tried to have a chimney sweep company help out, but they gave it a 15 min. try and gave up. i can see why they didn't want to get to far into it. They  swept my other flue, which is my furnace flue and called it a day. Is there anyone out there that specializes in removal of obstructions? I got an estimate to replace the liner which is only 4 years old and it was for 2150.00, I can't afford that. Any suggestions on removal?

Hello Paul, ok did you try pushing another brush up or down (if you lost it going up then push it up if you lost it going down then push it down) to force that one out? they also make a "harpoon" that works well for retrieval if you can hook it.
you could send a rope tied to the end of the rod, past the brush and tie some thing to it to pull/push the brush out
either way when you get it out try a 6" brush next time or make sure your connection are tight
