Question

A frame roof
I'm  putting in a large wood stove and my walls slant at a steep but not vertical angle.  Construction is: Steel shingles on sheet steel with 2" space offset, 8" styrofoam insulation, 8" steel beams structural construction and 2"x4"'s between them for sheetrock. Can I go straight up through the wall/roof with double wall chimney pipe, then angle up the outside wall to the roof with an elbow?  Or do I have to put in a "box" to penetrate the wall/roof?     Thanks,

Answer
Hi Jeff,

You must follow the instructions provided with your particular chimney piping.  They will address this in detail.

You can not penetrate walls, floors or ceilings with connector piping, it must be a listed termination that matches your chimney system.

Thanks for using AllExperts.Com and good luck with your project.
