Chimney & Fireplaces/Inital gas fireplace use

Question
Hi, I just moved into a house I am renting. I was going to use the fireplace and realized it wasn't cleaned out be the previous tenant. Upon further inspection I found out the fireplace just didn't seem up to par and/or possibly not safe to use. I have enclosed a pic. it is a Marco fireplace, model 792862b. I have done some research and found out they are no longer in business. I don't have a manual for this fireplace. As of right now the flew is stuck open and the gas pipe is nasty and not capped on the end. Also I do not have gas logs for it. I am not too sure what I need and need to do to bring this up to par. I do realize I will probaly need the chimmeny cleaned. I hope I can get the rental company to help pay for this. Thanks. I can provide more pics if needed

Answer
Hello Ronald, (no picture can through?)I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have.
do not use this fireplace until inspected.
