Chimney & Fireplaces/Removing Gas Logs

Question
My question is, we recently moved into our house and the previous owner had installed gas logs in the fireplace.  I have removed the logs and plan on using the fireplace for burning wood.  When they installed the gas logs they drilled a hole in the bottom of the firebox for the gas line.  I was wondering the best way to fill this hole.  I figured I can fill it with refractory cement, but I was wondering if there was something else I could use that would be easily removed if we ever decide to go back to gas logs.  Thank you.

Answer
Hello Dave, is this chimney safe to use? I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have before using it.the hole should be filled with cement, you can re drill latter if you have to.
