Chimney & Fireplaces/Is it recommended?

Question
We have a zero clearance fireplace that we would like to use this season and I have been getting conflicting stories of whether zero's need professionally cleaned like chimney fireplaces?

Answer
Hello Becky, if it burns solid flues it will need cleaning (sooner or latter)Zero Clearance refers to space between unit and combustibles, not build up from use. I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have.
