Question
I bought cermaic gas logs and only burn fires in the fireplace using gas.  Can I safely close the damper to retain the heat?

Answer
Hello Eric, what does the installation instructions say? you must follow them to the  letter and they usually supply a "stop" that goes on the damper that will not allow it to close all the way but hold it open an inch or two. NOT NOT USE THIS UNIT WITH THE DAMPER CLOSED FULLY you will retain the heat but also all the carbon monoxide which is deadly.
