Question
Hi -
Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to answer me.

We are remodeling our living room and need to remove a 30 degree section of flue without damaging the one above it.  Is their a specialize tool used to remove flue sections from each other?

Also, our new fireplace has an outside section of 11", and our flue to the chimney is 10.5" (the s.s. section is a 8" in both cases).  How to you recomennd sealing the 10.5" off of the 11" hole in the fireplace?

Thanks!
Andy

Answer
Hello Andy, it sounds like you have a Pre-fab and pipe system if so you can not mix 2 different pipes or use a different pipe with he fireplace you have. each fireplace has its own pipe system, cap, glass doors every thing. if you have to change a piece of pipe you must use the same one to replace it other wise you must replace the whole system (fireplace, pipe, cap all supports, glass doors and event he grate) I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have.
