Question
Hi James, we had a leaking chimney so had it taken down to just inside the roof space. We are thinking of using the open fire again, but didn't want the cost of re-building the chimney. Is it possible to attach a pipe( i.e as used with stoves) to the existing chimney and then take this through the roof. Many thanks.

Answer
Hello Paul, I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, you can but in most cases you have to line the chimney then add an adapter to go over to Class "A" double wall chimney up and out through the roof. if you don't do it right you could have a fire ask the certified sweep
