Question
hi my house is 100 years old and i would like to use the fireplaces in it but they don't have any fluliners in them just brick(and not to metion their old and the mortar is turning back to sand) is there anything i can use like an insert or what do you recomend, thank you for your time  Kevin

Answer
Hello Kevin, first I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have.YOu should be able to install an insert and reline (and insulate) the chimney with a stainless steel tube.
safe for the chimney, safer to use, easier to clean, and an insert will give you a ton of heat.
