Question
i just moved into a mountain cabin with a fisher woodstove insert.  i started looking on the net to see if i could find out some info on how they work.  i used it for the first time and could not keep the wood burning with the doors closed.  i moved the damper control to both positions and it didn't seem to make much difference.  after looking on the net and seeing all the postings on how these stoves are unsafe, i am now afraid to use it.  i was counting on it as major source of heat because propane is so expensive.

what can you tell me.  where can if find a professional to inspect that has some knowledge of these.
thanks, mary kay

Answer
Hi Mary Kay, start with your local wood stove store and I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have. when they see the unit they might be able to tell you how to use it.
keep me posted
