Question

thimble leakage
What is wrong when black water & sap leaks down the wall from around the thimble/stove pipe? It has always been a problem but we just had the chimney replaced this summer and I was hoping the problem would be solved. Since it is still leaking it leads me to believe something is wrong with the thimble installation.  Please help???

Answer
Hello Diane, this is for a wood stove? what this installed correctly? the smoke pipe should face the pipe before it (running the "sap" back to the stove) also do you have a cap on top? when was the last time the flue was cleaned?

I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have.
