Question
My mother has a 1950s vintage central wood burning furnace in her house. I believe it is a "Certified" brand. It needs firebricks and I don't know where to start looking. any suggestions?

The word "Certified," today refers to the EPA standards set for clean burning. That being said, your moms wood heater is certainly not that. You could try any home center such as Lowe's, HD, etc, and look for fire brick there, but I would recommend a complete NFPA-211 level II inspection of this old appliance and venting system.
