Question
I have a stone fireplace with a chimney that goes right to the ceiling,we burn logs in it, and i would like to paint the chimney do i need a heat resistance paint.it is stone all the way to the top.

Ideally, the veneer stone that surround your fireplace opening shouldn't be heated excessively by your fireplace. If this is the case, no special paint is required. On the other hand, if your veneer is excessively hot during operation of your fireplace, I would recommend a complete NFPA-211 inspection and attempt to find out why.
