Question
Hello, we are going to be installing a wood burning stove. The concern I have is that everything I have read states the flu can not go through a wall. The house use to have a chimney, but we removed it. The space is still there just no bricks. The house use to have a fireplace that was gone before we had the house. Where the fireplace use to sit is a closet now, that sits our furnace. We are replacing our furnace and putting it downstairs. The furnace flu went right up were the fireplace flu was. That is were we want to vent the stove from. But I have to go through a wall to get the flu up to there. What should I do, and is there anything we can use to get the flu from the stove through the wall and up the old chimney.

Many venting manufactures provide listed systems for wall penetration. Many competent chimney sweeps can help you with this. At the bottom of my home page at www.brooks-hearth.com, you will find links to help in finding a local chimney sweep. On the surface, your plan sounds reasonable.
