Question
In my building there are round patches on the plaster that look like damp, some have a white, furry residue on them.  I have been told this is sulphur from the bricks and that  I should 'seal it'.  Is it sulphur coming out of the bricks? and if I do need to seal it, what should I use that will stop these patches coming through the plaster and paint?  Thank you

If the issue concerns the chimney system, I would invest in an NFPA-211, level II inspection too determine the cause of the water entry. After the location of entry is identified and remedied, you can seal the exterior and presumably have no further issues.
