Question
I bought a used indoor fireplace inset.  I want to make an outdoor fireplace out of it on a deck.  Is there a problem rocking in an indoor inset outdoors? also is there a rule of thumb of how high the chimney should be?

Hi Bryan,

If you're referring to a factory-built fireplace, you should not install that outside because it will rust out!  This will create a fire hazard.

There are factory-built fireplaces that are made entirely out of stainless steel that are designed to be installed outside.
