Chimney & Fireplaces/black residue on glass

Question
I have two Lennox propane fireplaces which provide primary heat to my house in
the winter. The inside of the glass on both continuously develop a black residue
that I have to clean fairly regularly. I figured that it was burn off from the logs
and thus would eventually go away but it's been two winters now and doesn't
seem to be getting better. Do I just have to live with this or will the situation
improve over time and use?

Hi Byron,

The unit should not be sooting like that if the air is set right.

I suggest you contact the dealer and have them look at this - it sounds like the unit is not burning correctly.

Although LP is typically a little dirtier fuel than Natural, it shouldn't be doing this like you're describing.
