Question
I plan on installing a wood burner in my basement.  I have only power vented equiptment in my house (furnace and water heater) so no chimney. Do i need to built a metal one all the way past the roof or is their a way to direct vent it as i do with my gas fire place...  thanks for any help.e

If you install a wood-burner in your basement, yes, you must vent according the manufactures instructions. This will require terminating at least three feet above the roof and at at least two feet above any portion of the building within ten feet. You can run the vent through the wall and install the chimney outside the house as an options as well, but it will vent at the same height. Good luck.
