Chimney & Fireplaces/Chimney updraft

Question
Hi, when we light a fire in our wood burning insert smoke enters the room instead of going up the chimney. We pull in fresh air and the flue is open. What is the problem?

Answer
Hello Anthony, is the system clean? Is their a blockage? is it installed correctly? You mention that you have "fresh air" did you open an outside door or a window in that room fully?
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have.hope this helped
