Chimney & Fireplaces/chimney liner

Question
We are installing a natural gas/wood burning furnace.  We have a masonry chimney with a terra cotta flue liner.  It is in excellent condition.  Our sweep tells us that we still need a double walled liner installed to be 100% safe.  We do not have allot of money.  Do we really need to do that?

It may have to do with the size of your existing chimney liner. Both too small and too big can be problem with your new furnace being able to draw. The manufacture of your new furnace will indicate the required flue dimensions but your sweep will know if problems exist with the old liner as well. Good luck.
