Chimney & Fireplaces/surface for woodstoves

Question
I see all theses brick slabs and wall backers that wood stoves rest on and against, but they are too much mass for me to like.  I want to build the slab for the woodstove by putting cement backerboard down and then tiling it just as I did my floors.  The back wall protection would be done the same way. Any issue's in doing this?
Thank you for your advice.

Answer
Hello David, I do not know if your set up would be enough protection for that wood stove, you must follow what your stove manufacturer states for floor and wall protection, or you could ask your local building department.
hope this helped
