Question

Fireplace
We purchased a home with a Majestic wood burning fireplace.  It is an open fireplace with only a sliding metal screen.  We currently are burning way to much wood, almost a rick a week.  We are wondering, can a type of insert be added, that will enclose the fireplace and turn it into more of a wood brning stove, that vents the air into the room.

Hi Patricia,

Your existing fireplace is not desiged to be modified in any way to accomodate aftermarket equipment.  Factory-built fireplaces like yours are typically not designed to heat with, they are decorative only.  

You should NOT attempt to install a wood-burning fireplace insert inside your factory-built fireplace.  If you'll consult your owner's manual, it will confirm this.

The installation of a wood-burning fireplace insert will void the warranty and listing of the factory-built fireplace and can cause a hazardous situation that can lead to having a house fire.  Don't Do It!
