i have a prefab fireplace, and am wondering if i can convert to use a wood burning stove?  thank u

You can certainly replace your factory built fireplace with an EPA certified wood-burning appliance. As for conjoining your existing factory built unit with an EPA certified insert, the answer is no for a variety of reasons. The most important reason is that your existing unit was not listed and tested for safety with an insert of any kind. There are significant weight additions to your fireplace and increased temperatures related to this install that put you in harms way. Thanks for asking and have a nice day.
