hi,
we have a gas fireplace insert that worked amazingly-- and then we recently replaced our electric hot water heater with a gas tankless, and all of a sudden our fireplace insert doesn't seem to work as well-- it mildly heats the room at full blast fan & flame and has to run day & night to maintain, whereas before it could heat a better part of the home relatively quickly. I am wondering if it is not getting enough gas-- could you help me with this problem? I have a 4 day old baby and am having a hard time keeping the house warm! Thanks!

Hi Vicky,

It sound like a gas supply issue.

If the new hot water heater is pulling too much demand, it might cause the gas insert to not heat adequately.

I recommend you call a local plumber to run a load calculation on the supply line to determine if this has happened.

If that's not the issue, and the gas insert is down-line of the hot water heater, something could have entered the down-line supply line to the insert and be restricting the flow to the unit.
