Question
Built in 1960, my fireplace as a flue and two side vents next to the fireplace which appear to have their own flues to the chimney.  So my chimney has 3 flues (2 vents and 1 smoke flue).  Looking into the 2 vents, they appear mostly blocked off.  What are these vents doing with their own flues?

Answer
Hello Scott, with out seeing it I realy don't know so I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
