Chimney & Fireplaces/Access for sweeping

Question
Hi Steve.  We have a wood burner installed in our huse and when we got the sweep in he said it was unsafe because he could not access the whole area from the stove.  Said we needed to have an access plate cut in the wall behind to allow access for proper sweeping.  Is this common and would this be the best option or would a complete liner be the answer?  Thanks for your help

Answer
So it sounds like you have a wood stove installed in your home. I'm not sure what it is that the sweep is asking for? Why would you need an access hole cut in the wall? I can't really help out  with this question, unfortunately.

I would maybe get a second opinion to make sure this is something that needs to be done. Talk with someone who is WETT certified and see what they say.
