Question
I currently have a brick fireplace in my home that had a gas insert installed at some point.  Do to the cost of propane rising we decided to do away with the propane and remove the furnace and fireplace insert.  We are planning on replacing the insert with a wood insert that has an open back.  It is simply the doors and a blower but uses the fireplace and chimney.  My question is, what do I use to fill the hole that was drilled in the back of the fireplace for the gas line and electrical connection?  The back side of the fireplace is in my garage and I want to do it right!

Answer
Hello Bryan, first what does the installation for the new inert state for installation?
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help. there is a high temp fireplace mortar
Hope this helps
