Chimney & Fireplaces/Gas Fireplace off-gassing

Question
Hi Steve - we have a Masjestic gas fireplace which was giving off a very strong smell.  After several service calls the manufacturer finally took it back tohe factory.  When it came back the smell was even stronger, catching your throat and making you cough.  Eventually after many hours, the smell faded.  Now at the start of another season, the smell is back as strong as ever.  Can this only be dust build up or some kind of toxic glue offgas?   We have working CO2 detectors so there is no danger from that.   Any insight/advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.   Many thanks.

Answer
This is an interesting dilemma. I would be talking with the factory and reason with them stating that the problem still persists.

I would get someone in there to inspect the entire installation to make sure everything is connected/installed properly.

This is what I would do. I hope it helps.
