Chimney & Fireplaces/Gas Fireplace pilot

Question
QUESTION: I accidently turned fireplace off so that pilot was turned off. Now I cannot relight it. The fireplace is a wall insert type with fan and it is an instaflame HE30. Instructions say to move nob to pilot and push in and strike igniter however my problems is that when I move the nob to pilot it will not push in at all and so no gas to light pilot - am I doing something wrong? Is the nob stuck or is there something else that I am not doing? Please help!

ANSWER: When you move the knob from off to pilot you should be able to press the knob in further at some point. once it goes in then you shouldn't have an issue relighting the insert.

QUESTION: Thanks for your reply but that's my whole problem - when I move it from off to pilot, the nob will not push in! My question is what do I do if the nob doesn't push in when on pilot?

Answer
OK, so if the pilot is not able to be pushed in then I would call a fireplace serviceman to come in and look at what is going on. you should be able to push it in so if it's not going in then someone needs to look at it and diagnose the issue there.
