Question
I have a new home with dedicated 8" wood stove flue and a new wood stove with a 6" diameter stovetop flue port.  I have limited space on my hearth.   Is it acceptable to exit the stove top and immediately increase the pipe diameter from 6" to 8" and then up 24" and into the chimney flue @ 8" diameter with a 90 degree elbow?  Or is it necessary to come out of the stove @ 6" , up 24" and expant to 8" just before entering the flue?

Answer
Hello Tom, you really have to follow what the "new stove" says for installation if it says 6" and you have an 8" contact them about that they might say no.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
