Chimney & Fireplaces/Do I need to run stove pipe up the Chimney ?

Question
I have a center chimney house built in 1962 with 3 fire places on and 4 flues. I have a Pellet insert on the main floor with a stainless stove pipe running to the top of the chimney and capped. I just purchased a soapstone wood stove and want to place it on the hearth of the second fireplace on the main floor. Do I need to run stainless pipe all the way up this flu also or can I just run it to the damper?

Answer
Hello Chuck, check what the stove says, building department and then it should go to the first flue tile I recommend lining all the way to the top, I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
