Question
Im living in my council house 4 years, it only has a gas fire in sitting room(so no chimney only flue, I hate the gas fire, too expensive and when left on too long gives me headaches. Id give my right arm for an open fire place but these houses were build with no chimneys. Houses are semi detached two storey houses with good size attic. Can i get an chimney for open fire built into it and gas fire removed. What way do i go about it? I dont want to have to move out but i cant take this much longer especially with the bad weather. Thanks.

Answer
From what you decribing linda it should be able to be done. I would speak with a local fireplace company and talk to them about what you want to do. They can further assist you in finding the right fireplace for you and also describe how the chimney will be installed. I would suggest bringing pictures of the outside of the house as reference material for them to look over.

As a fireplace sales person I love it when people bring pictures it helps me see what is there and then i can see what can be done.

Hope this Helped.
