Chimney & Fireplaces - Preway Fireplace

Question
Hi, I purchased a mobile home in 1983, it has a preway fireplace insert for wood burning, I now would like to change it and install a gas logs in it. my unite doesn't have knock out plugs for gas hook up, can i drill this in to the side so i can install gas log and what would you drill the wall to keep the inserts from cracking thks Ray

Answer
I would look at the owners manual for this fireplace. If there is no knockouts to run the gas then I don't think you can install a gas logset by code. I would suggest speaking with a local fireplace store and see what they suggest. But I am almost 100% certain that this cannot be done.

Hope this helps.
