Chimney & Fireplaces/Vintage wood cook stove/UL approved?/insurance

QuestionWe have a circa 1930's Kalamazoo wood cook stove. I think it is called their President model. We hav it installed in our kitchen. It is on a ceramic floor and there is split rock over masonry wall behind it and on the wall beside it.
We have applied for a new insurance for our home and they are questioning this appliance. I have not used it for nearly 5 years but if power goes out it will keep us warm and keep pipes from freezing here in Northern MN you have to be prepared for such.
Where can I obtain a list showing ul approved vintage stoves.
This stove is in very good condition. New fire brick lining in fire box. good grates etc. It was installed according to fire code standaeds and probably even better.
AnswerWith the age of this stove I'm almost 100% that is was not approved. If it was there will be a plate/sticker on the back of the unit saying so.
I would imagine that this unit is "Grandfathered" in providing you haven't moved the unit/changed the chimney since it was installed originally.
I would speak with your insurance company and see what can be done to keep this stove or I would suggest buying a new one from a company like HEARTLAND. Who's cookstoves are approved.
Hope this helps.
