Chimney & Fireplaces/chimney damper removel

Hello, i am trying to clean my fire place from the bottom up but do not know how to remove the damper so i can be able to stick the sweeper through it would be greatly appreciated if you would help. thanks,

Hello Austin, most dampers have a handle, look at how it is attached in most cases there is a cotter pin (be carful removing it so you can reuse  it) remove the damper handle then lift the damper up to one side and tip the low side out and let it drop (BUT DON'T DROP IT) down into the fire box,  be sure to clean the shelf behind the damper then re install in reverse.
be carful to use a dust mask.
