Question
james I would like to seal my double wall pipe at the roof it will be going through a corrugated steel roof i am using two 36 inches joints of pipe. If I do not over heat my stove will it get any hotter than 650 deg? I would like to use permatex or dap firestop. the thimble or weather guard that i got is flat. I can stop the rain from coming in at the top by putting flashing under my ridge cap and over my thimble and on the sides by caulking the ridges under the thimble     thank you  TONY

Answer
Hello Tony, the pipe you have should have a flashing and storm collar (find that) that work fine, the air space around the pipe is not suposta be sealed but you can silicone the storm collar above the flashing with silicone.
I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep (www.csia.org, there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
Hope this helps
James
